Shopify lets you create free gift cards and distribute them via email to customers — but how does this work with Shopkeeper Tools' gift card apps?
- By default, if you create a free gift card, the customer will see the default Shopify gift card experience.
- If, however, you have our gift card apps properly installed, you should see "skt-branded" as a page template option when creating or editing a gift card. If you select this, it will use the Shopkeeper Tools gift card experience.
- If you want to use the Shopkeeper Tools gift card experience for all gift cards by default, you can copy the code from skt-branded.liquid to gift_card.liquid. However, we strongly recommend you make a backup copy of gift_card.liquid.
- Gift cards created via the admin cannot have personalized to or from names or a personal note. This part of the gift card experience will be blank.
- Some non-ShopKeeper apps may create gift card codes that are actually discount codes. Because these are created as discount codes, they do not have a gift card link or page, so these codes cannot be displayed in the ShopKeeper experience.
